Pastebin updated to V3, releases Windows app
It has recently undergone a major overhaul which includes the release of a brand new Windows client. The new client lets you create new "pastes" and manage your existing ones. It joins a host of other tools from Pastebin, such as the Google and Chrome extensions, OS X widget and the mobile apps.
If you're currently using Pastebin, the new client is a great addition. And if you haven't tried it before, next time you have a piece of code you want to share or get some feedback on, you could do worse than try out Pastebin.

Fatigued Users Fall Away From Facebook
Tired of Facebook? You're not alone. More than half the members of the social network have taken a break from it from time to time, and more than a quarter told researchers they planned to spend less time there in the future, according to a report released Tuesday by the Pew Internet Project. In addition, a fifth of online adults who were not Facebook users said they had used the network at one time but deserted it and never returned, Pew's researchers found.
Google Maps with Street View arrives on Nintendo Wii U in Japan, free for a limited time
True to Iwata-san's word, Google Maps with Street View is indeed making its way to the Nintendo Wii U this month. Word of the mapping service's impending arrival first came this past December, but at the time, no mention was made of availability outside of a vague January 2013 launch. As we learned later however, it was pushed back another month but Wii Street U Powered by Google is live in Japan, and will be free through the end of May. After that, there will be a fee for access to the service's Panorama View-like feature, which leverages the GamePad for 360-degree perspectives.
Of course, you can also peruse both plain and Street View maps from the TV, but that kind of diminishes the gimmicky point of the second screen controller. (Also, you could just use a laptop, tablet or phone for Google Maps -- just sayin'.) There's no word on US release plans or potential pricing, but it's worth noting the TVii app that's free here carries a nominal 100 yen charge in Japan. Google Latitude check-in deals now available across the US
If you're in the U.S., you can now score local savings at participating merchants by checking in with Latitude. Google will also be offering "status deals," which users can unlock by visiting a particular merchant on a regular basis. Mashable notes three status levels: regular, VIP, and guru -- though partners can apparently customize those titles if they choose.
Right now deals are available from merchants like American Eagle Outfitters, Arby's, Finish Line, Macy's, Quiznos, and RadioShack.

Android app spotlight: AdAway – block those annoying advertisements
I’ll admit I’m an advertiser’s nightmare. In all the years I’ve been on the Internet, I’ve probably clicked through on a handful of ads displayed. I can watch the coolest ads on TV and at the end still not know what product brand they’re actually advertising, even after multiple viewings. So why would I want to block ads on my phone or tablet? Well there are three advantages to blocking ads:
- No annoying animations distracting me from the information I do want
- More real estate on my screen
- No wasting my limited download limit on downloading advertisements (especially on my limited mobile 3G).
AdAway is a utility that changes the HOSTS file on your device, so root access is required. Using a black list of known ad sites, calls to these sites are redirected so that they can’t be downloaded and displayed on the screen.
In some ways I do have a moral dilemma in using this app, as I know that many smaller websites or apps are funded by this advertising and it’s a way for the owners not to have to charge for their services. But since I wouldn’t be clicking through anyway, I suppose it’s moot in some ways. It’s a really useful app, though at times it does block stuff that you might actually want to see.

KDE 4.10 released with leaner Air theme, more love for mobile devices
There are plenty of Linux desktop environments to choose from, but if KDE has a special place in your heartware, you'll be pleased to know its first 2013 update is out. Making the jump from 4.9 to 4.10 brings various tweaks to Plasma Workspaces, including upped support for high-res displays, a streamlining of the default Air theme, and plenty of behind the scenes adjustments. All running software can now be controlled through a common menu system, search indexes happen faster, and the new Nepomuk Cleaner will help rid those clogged drives of unnecessary data. In addition, printer management has been improved, and the enhanced Dolphin file manager communicates more freely with mobile devices.
